Duties
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the point of care within the Northeast Wisconsin Ambulatory Care (NEWAC) Division located at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Appleton. The LPN function is to provide quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran population of varying complexity in a variety of settings within the NEWAC Division. The LPN possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.Major Duties: The LPN will be functioning as an integral member of the patient aligned care team (PACT). The LPN will play a key role in administering essential vaccines to the veteran population with a focus on COVID 19 and seasonal influenza vaccinations. The LPN will effectively implement health promotion and prevention interventions. This LPN must demonstrate outstanding communication skills and the ability to be an active member of a patient care team. Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers. Maintain confidentiality of patient / employee information electronically, verbally, and written. Work and function within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment. Provide care appropriate to the bio-psychosocial needs of the population served. This knowledge includes an understanding of the changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population. He/ she must be able to assess and interpret data relating to the patient's current health status, which will facilitate the delivery of care appropriate to the age specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient. The LPN works within the parameter of approved protocols and the departmental policies and procedure. Practice requirements include Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider, through the American Heart Association.
Work Schedule : Full-time; Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM-4:15 PM, may require occasional PM or weekend hours.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 .
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and lifting in the direct care of patients; some extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
