Summary Statement

This position will serve in the Division of Operations and Fund Management in the Office of the State Treasurer. The employee will work within the Merchant Services and Payment Card Industry “PCI” Compliance Unit. The Division is responsible for overseeing the movement of State funds across a variety of channels and providing operational and transition support on office and state-wide initiatives. This opportunity will provide the employee with a broad understanding of how financial operations works in State government, in addition to providing practical, hands-on experience. The position will support the merchant services and PCI Compliance tasks related to payment card collections (credit card and ACH transactions), deposit activity and complete Annual PCI Compliance for all agencies and school districts.

Essential Functions

Reviews forms and source documents such as bills, receipts, invoices, claims, or service contracts to complete purchase orders; confirms accuracy, completeness, required documentation and approvals in compliance with applicable procedures, practices and standards.
Verifies or determines correct classification and coding of transactions.
Uses commercial and proprietary automated information systems and computer software to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report on data. 
Uses standard formulas to perform and verify calculations; monitors balances and identifies and reports discrepancies. 
Creates and maintains financial records, documents and files.
Prepares reports and summaries on the status of accounts or other financial data.
Participates in recommending changes to internal procedures, forms, or process enhancements.
Gathers and compiles data for higher-level staff.
Performs general office work and functions as assigned such as preparing correspondence and distributing documents.
May perform payroll entries and process payroll in automated information systems.
Delivers excellent customer service to internal and external customers and the public in person, electronically, or by written communication.
Communicates and interacts effectively with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Fiscal Associate II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months' experience in processing accounting, auditing or payroll transactions following applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Six months' experience in determining compliance of financial transactions with required documentation, computations, codes, signatures, rules or regulations.  Six months’ experience in preparing financial reports such as combining and presenting financial data from multiple sources in an organized format. OR Possession of an Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.
