Job Responsibilities:
The following represents some major areas of concern in Special Education. Other areas in the Special Education field will be required to fulfill all the needs of the classroom and student IEPs.

  • Plan curriculum lessons and special education programs and teaching methods.
  • Maintain contact with parents of students and invite them to participate in educational progress.
  • Maintain the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes.
  • Instruct individuals and groups on Special Ed. skill areas.
  • Modify curriculum according to IEP and administer testing evaluations.


Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree required with classroom experience preferred.
  • Active state license as a Special Education Teacher.
  • 1 years of experience working as a Special Education Teacher.
  • Need one special education teacher who has experience teaching special education students (preferred experience in teaching in a therapeutic program with students with social/emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • The teacher will be teaching all core subjects (ELA Math Science and Social Studies) for a class of 58 students.
  • The selfcontained program is in a multigraded classroom of students in grades 46 at the School.
