Summary:

Our insurance client is currently looking for a Data Test Lead to join the Group Data organization. They have found challenges in our current delivery processes within their Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) when it comes to validating end-to-end scenarios – testing data from ingestion to the Warehouse through to downstream systems. This role (potentially) with be the first of a small group (3-4 total individuals) that will focus on improving end user experience.

Below is an outline of the Roles/Responsibilities of this position. The goal is to have this be an offshore position working closely with our Test Leadership to drive a strategic end-to-end test process.

Data Test Lead – Requirements/Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on data quality initiatives, including data quality, integration, migration and transformation
  • Collaborate with business and data analysts to understand requirements, data models, and business rules
  • Develop comprehensive data testing strategies, plans, and test cases to validate the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across systems
  • Design and execute complex SQL queries and scripts to verify data integrity, transformations, and mappings
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify and resolve data-related issues, including data quality problems, discrepancies, and performance
  • Coordinate and prioritize testing activities, ensuring timely delivery and accurate defect management

  • Built over time a new Enterprise DW – “One Data”
  • Focus of old QA team to data was building scripts to data validation – move away from QA aspects and have data analyst validate data
  • Discovered that they are not good at validating end to end flowing through the environment – consumers at the end that were leveraging data, it was not coming through as clean as hoped. Power BI etc.
  • Bringing on team to do end to end data validation through their environment
  • Skillset of testing in data environment and insurance domain (policy and claims data etc.)
  • Expectation that they are starting with individual to do strategy for data testing end to end, then grow team per expected throughput needed
  • Pedigree in testing to help build out structure
