Job description

We have an exciting, unique opportunity for a passionate, motivated individual to join the Department for Transport�s Aviation - Commercial, Strategy and Consumers team as a Commercial Policy Advisor. The division was initially created to meet the challenges posed by the pandemic. However, our role has since evolved and sees us work on a range of critical commercial policy decisions and support the sector through a number of structural challenges.

The job holder will support the team�s work monitoring the commercial health of the sector. This includes working closely with the sector to get an updated picture of each company�s latest commercial and financial position and understanding the impact of various Government policies on the sector.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Developing and implementing an enhanced monitoring framework across the UK aviation market to support proactive risk assessment and wider policy making in the Department.�Produce briefings, submissions and recommendations which support senior staff and Ministers across a range of challenging and exciting policy areas.Engage and establish effective working relations with industry stakeholders, external financial and legal advisers, and the CAA to assess risk picture and continue to develop the Department�s understanding of the aviation sector.Work collaboratively across the internal team and wider Department to support policy development linked to the aviation sector.Lead on Parliamentary Questions across a range of topics, ensuring that accurate responses are provided, often to tight deadlines.

Additional information

A minimum of 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.�
