Prepares and performs ultrasound examinations on patients. Collaborates with physicians on examinations.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Essential: walking twisting body finger dexterity seeing hearing speaking; reaching above and at shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions; static gripping of an object for prolonged periods; frequent gripping of an object.
  • Continuous: sitting reaching below shoulder level.
  • Frequent: standing stooping/bending pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds of force.
  • Occasional: sitting kneeling climbing stairs squatting lifting and carrying weight of 10 pounds up to 20 pounds.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to adjust the schedule for oncall coverage involving but not limited to evenings nights weekends and holidays.
  • May be subjected to stressful situations when dealing with multiple and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

  • Prior recent experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer or Echo Ultrasound Technologist in an acute health care facility preferred.

Education:

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved school of Ultrasound Technology or other approved program as determined by the department;
  • or registered Radiologic Technologist with two (2) years supervised work/training in diagnostic ultrasound.

Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:

  • Must be registered by or registry candidate of ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) in Abdomen and OB/GYN sonography.
  • Registered by ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) preferred.
  • Current BLS/HCP certification is required

Shift: Days Full Time

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments/projects respond to numerous requests and work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.
