In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:

Whole School Leadership:

Model and exemplify outstanding teaching practice, consistent with the BPS instructional model Lead and support consistency of whole school processes and practices Supervising and training one or more student teachers and mentoring and/or coaching teachers Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers Support and promote the wellbeing of staff Leading and managing staff performance and development (review of staff) Manage assigned budget and resources Other duties as directed by the Principal.

Curriculum & Assessment

Lead and develop whole school curriculum framework policies and procedures in line with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model Build staff capacity in understanding and implementing the Victorian Curriculum and its standards, especially the general capabilities Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery Leading and managing the development of the school's assessment and reporting policies and practices Lead the analysis of whole-school and cohort assessment data that supports staff to analyse data at the student, class, year level and whole school Modelling the use of student data to inform teaching approaches at a classroom level and supporting the school to make evidence-based and data informed decisions related to its professional learning plan.

Pedagogy

Work in conjunction with the Principal to achieve the Strategic Plan goals in relation to pedagogy, to develop and implement BPSS whole-school approaches to teaching and learning Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice Build teacher capacity to implement High Impact Teaching Strategies Modelling exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)

Developing and leading the implementation of PLCs across the School. Implement and model effective classroom observations through the PLCs to enable teachers to seek, analyse and act on feedback and on their practice Lead, plan and implement the delivery of professional development sessions.

Responsibilities

VIT LANTITE

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.

Beveridge Primary School became a multi-campus school in 2020, our Foundation - Grade 2 and Grade 3 - 6 campuses are located on the Northern Fringe of Melbourne. Beveridge is in the northern growth corridor and it is expected that our school will see significate growth over the next 5 years.

Our curriculum also offers music, an annual whole school production, fine arts, physical education and Auslan (LOTE) and our wellbeing program includes a literacy intervention and extension program, a numeracy intervention and extension program and a wellbeing coordinator to support students, their families and teachers to enable all to achieve their potential.

We are working towards delivering a greater access to computers program in the school and a sophisticated IT skills program scaffolded into student programs.
