Duties

As a Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

Performs electrical tasks such as replacing light switches, fixtures, and installing electric boxes. Manages and maintains the park's wastewater treatment systems (e.g., pretreatment and primary treatment of wastewater). Operates and maintains heavy motorized equipment (e.g. front-end loader, forklift, dump truck, farm agricultural tractor, rubber-tired backhoe/ loader, skid steer, excavator, bulldozer, road grader). Cleans, replaces, and makes minor adjustments to such parts as fuel, electrical, brakes, steering, regulators, water/fuel pumps, carburetors, cooling systems or attachments to vehicles or heavy equipment. Uses carpentry power and hand tools such as hammers, hand and power saws, drills, planes, routers, sanders, and nail guns, using safety rules/regulations/procedures. Makes repairs to refuge buildings, fences and facilities. Lays out the installation, modification, or repairs of systems for example: wiring systems in buildings, power and control circuits, and distribution panels.

U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males. Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work weekends, evenings, and overtime. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

ICTAP/CTAP Clearance (Example: Rehires): Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection.
