Description:

The Montana Public Employee Retirement Administration (MPERA) agency is committed to providing secure and sustainable retirement benefits to nearly 60,000 members and retirees.The agency administers nine defined benefit retirement plans and is dedicated to customer service, member education, and operational efficiency.

As a member of the agency’s Information Systems Bureau, this position will support the business bureaus through analysis and maintenance of MPERA’s data sources. The ideal candidate will have experience in analyzing and assessing data, identifying integrity issues and anomalies and can make recommendations for and implantation of remediation actions.Candidate will work with programmers, engineers, and management heads to identify data and process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies.The ideal candidate will have experience programming in Microsoft SQL Server. In addition, duties will includeanswering customer questions and troubleshooting customer issues.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience: 

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or closely related field; AND 5 years’ experience as a database analyst Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

Conducting analysis of data integrity Theory and practices of database design and development Designing a normalized database schema and proficient use of reports, views, stored procedures, triggers, and user defined types; MS-SQL Server SQL and Transact-SQL Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation. Experience in handling reporting packages like Business Objects, programming (JavaScript, XML, or ETL frameworks), databases Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing Problem-solving skills Accuracy and attention to detail Adept at queries, writing reports, and making presentations Team-working skills Verbal and Written communication skills Proven working experience in data analysis Analyze and interpret complex datasets to derive actionable insights. Implement robust processes for validating and cleansing data. Collaborate with data users to identify and rectify errors and discrepancies. Monitor and maintain data quality standards.Implement processes for data validation and error detection. Proactively identify opportunities for improving data quality processes. Implement measures to prevent data quality issues and enhance overall data integrity. Collaborate with developers to optimize database queries. Develop and generate reports for business stakeholders Document database structures, processes, and best practices Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders Troubleshoot issues in complex database(s) supporting a multiple tiered software application Identify problems, emerging issues, and trends, and establish strategies to address them Manage workload and time Deliver professional customer service Explain technical issues to non-technical people Adapt to shifting business requirements
