Our Occupational Therapy Team sits within Community Care and works to maximise independence for adults and children throughout Moray. We provide specialist, holistic assessments and focus on providing Occupational therapy input in a wide range of situations. Our work informs Social Work assessments for care, we support people when they are adapting their home, provide specialist equipment and we advise and guide carers and clients so they are able to live as independently and with as much freedom as possible. We currently have a vacancy for a full time OT within the team. You will be responsible for a varied caseload and opportunities to supervise other staff are available. You must hold a degree/diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy. You must also be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). We offer support to newly qualified professionals with both formal and informal training available. Requirements

Assessment for and provision To undertake and record assessment of basic needs. Leading to the provide equipment and adaptations.

To complete bathing assessments leading to the provision of level access showers and static and mobile shower seating.

To co- work with housing re the provision of LAS.

Instruct clients and their carers in the safe use of equipment and organise minor adaptations and major level access shower adaptations

Manage own case-load under the supervision of the OT and carry out check and review visits on own cases or as delegated by the OT where appropriate.

Order online equipment from The Joint Equipment Store to meets client’s needs and inline with assessment process.

Advice/Support/Liaison Support client and their family through period of adjustment related to disability.

Provide information of the range of statutory and voluntary service available to people with disabilities and their carers.

Liaise with other agencies e.g. Health Services, Voluntary Services, Property Services, and other Community Services Department colleagues.

Training/Development

Participate in learning opportunities wherever possible. Be involved in the development of services by assisting to identify gaps in service.

Attend regular supervision with the designated OT.

Attend OT Team meetings on a regular basis. Admin Duties Accept and process referrals.

Maintain up to date case records in accordance with Moray Council policy. Record monthly statistics as required by the OT Team Manager.

Carry out any other necessary admin duties related to departmental guidelines and procedures in conjunction with current legislation. Health and Safety

To take reasonable care for the health and safety of self, other staff and service users as defined by Council policy and other relevant documentation and training.

To co-operate with the Council in ensuring that health and safety duties are complied with.

Responsibilities

The main purpose of the Senior Occupational Therapy Assistant is to support the Occupational Therapy Team to provide a specialist service to people in the community who are experiencing physical disabilities, to enable them to live as independently a life as possible with optimal functional performance. A degree of flexibility will be required, to meet the demands of the service. The post holder will cover areas such as equipment and adaptations, falls prevention, assessment and provision of Telecare equipment. There will be considerable contact with people using the service, families and carers who will have varying degrees of need which the post-holder will be required to respond to as appropriate.
