About the department:

Chief Nursing Officer Directorate

The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the development of professional nursing practice at Austin Health. The Chief Nursing Officer directorate consists of Directors of Nursing with oversight of operational nursing practice across three campuses, After Hours Site Management, Clinical Education Unit.

Continuing Care Division

Austin Health’s Continuing Care Service is comprised of the following Divisional specialties and services, which are provided within a range of care settings including inpatient, outpatient and community-based locations across all campuses:

 Health Independence Programs

Admitted Acute and Sub Acute Aged Care Services Rehabilitation Acquired Brain Injury Unit Victorian Spinal Cord Service Rehabilitation and Community Services Medical and Cognitive Research Unit Community Aged Care Services

Admitted Aged Care Services include:

Ward 9, Ward 10, Ward 11, Ward 12 and Medical Cognitive Research Unit

About the role:

The Divisional Manager Admitted Aged Care Services - Director of Nursing Heidelberg Repatriation Campus provides professional nursing leadership to the nursing workforce at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital campus of Austin Health. The role will engage strongly with the operational management structure to provide professional nursing leadership and advice on the Repatriation campus, to support the achievement of organisational priorities while ensuring the delivery of evidenced based, contemporary nursing care.

The Divisional Manager Admitted Aged Care Services - Director of Nursing Heidelberg Repatriation Campus, in partnership with portfolio Medical Partners, have a significant and critical collaborative relationship and together develop a strategically aligned annual operational plan for the portfolio which includes the agreed activities, targets, resource allocation and monitoring processes. Divisional Managers have accountability for the creation of an operational environment that emulates and facilitates achievement of Austin Health’s vision.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:

Ensure the delivery of patient care is of the highest standard in accordance with the objectives of Austin Health and professional nursing standards and ethics. In collaboration with the Nursing Executive team, continuously review existing nursing practices and policies across the health service according to evidence-based practice to minimise adverse patient outcomes and promotes a patient centered model of care. Working with the Chief Nurse, ensure organisational compliance with relevant legislation and professional requirements. Use detailed understanding of organisational strategy and contemporary operational models of practice, to collaboratively develop, review and secure a highly integrated, networked and performance oriented operational architecture that facilitates the delivery of efficient and effective patient centred clinical care. As a clinical operations subject matter expert, explore, investigate and champion new innovative healthcare delivery models and collaborates with others to enable effective implementation. Harness and analyse performance data to develop business intelligence and identification of emerging trends that enable the delivery of high quality and clinically safe services and evidence based decision making within the organisation. Accountable to inspire a shared vision, model a values based approach and create a culture in which new ways of working are encouraged and enabled
