Charlottesville, United States Commonwealth of Virginia Full time
The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia seeks a full-time Teleradiology Coordinator to join the team in providing critical teleradiology administrative support. The Teleradiology Coordinator registers radiographic studies and patient information for the purpose of returning timely patient study results to contracted sites that helps coordinate patient care services.

The incumbent will join the Teleradiology Team in providing clinical administrative EPIC and PACS support to Clinical Faculty, Residents, and Fellows/Clinical Instructors as well as contracted sites, ranging from prisons, healthcare clinics, and hospitals. The team creates orderables in EPIC by registering patients and pulling images from PACS to verify receipt of comprehensive external studies. The team ensures timely turnaround time for each study by processing them efficiently and effectively while making recommendations for improvement.

Specific responsibilities include:
Match patient information with current study that is then edited to be easily retrieved by the appropriate radiologist; identify, edit and synch applicable prior studies for comparison; and ensure technical issues are resolved personally or, when necessary, are brought to the active attention of the PACS administrator/engineers. Coordinate follow-on action (e.g., addenda or corrections in content) with the reading radiologist, to include connecting the provider with the radiologist and, occasionally, advising technicians of corrective/additional actions requested by the radiologist. Research conflicting personal information on patients as described on paper from the sites to achieve accuracy and currency and make corrections. Work with site representatives to resolve discrepancies regarding patient identities or study requirements. Make changes in systems when needed. Manage image transmission issues by researching status of studies, taking appropriate administrative corrective action and apprising appropriate entities outside this office when necessary. Manage patient medical records/radiological images to ensure background information is available to sites. Coordinate information exchange between radiologist and provider, and ensure corrective actions are completed. Provide technical advice to outside sites particularly with regard to complex situations that change or deviate from policy/procedure. Ensure a high degree of confidentiality and conflict resolution. Coordinate with supervisor as needed. Recommend or assist in budget preparation, payroll, office space management, equipment and other logistical matters in a changing environment. Recommend solutions for operational efficiency to the interpreting radiologist. Report systemic problems encountered in receipt of images to the appropriate entity and flow through to resolution. Provide cross-coverage/cross-training for coworkers in order to ensure coverage during absences. Must meet productivity metrics.
