Our client, an nation's leading insures, is seeking a VP/Valuation Actuary

Location: Remote
Position Type: Contract

POSITION SUMMARY:



You will assist the VP, Valuation Actuary in establishing and leading a world class valuation/reserving function and team to facilitate the continued growth of the organization. This position will interact closely with other leaders within and external to the organization to create valuation and financial reporting, management reporting, financial planning/forecasting, ALM and Economic Capital Modelling. Additionally, this position will work closely with the external partners.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



Build internal team's knowledge of LDTI and lead on building of LDTI processes Lead and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual valuation processes. Deliver timely, accurate and auditable reports for GAAP, Statutory, and Tax as well as analysis of financial trends and forecasts. Develop new reporting and analysis tools and improving processes related to Valuation Collaborate with internal and external partners on the analysis and management of the company's financials Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities Modernization of actuarial systems: Support projects to improve valuation systems and input data

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • 10 or more years of Life Actuarial experience, preferably with valuation and/or reserving
  • Experience in a publicly traded company
  • Strong understanding of traditional life, accident & health products and riders to include valuation and reserving methodologies and compliance requirements
  • Develop and train a team to be strong in both innovative thinking and technical skills
  • Experience providing internal service to a business, forming strong relationships, understanding client experiences and expectations and working to anticipate needs
  • Will be able to review others work for reasonableness and identify opportunities for enhancement
  • Experience with LDTI
  • Experience with GGY-AXIS
