General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Engineer (Electrical) for our Jefferson City, MO location. This role is part of the North American Hub Engineering team with a focus on oil filled distribution transformers manufactured in Jefferson City.

In this position, you will be responsible for executing value engineering and product development / introduction projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive customer value and profitability for current product offerings by applying Value Engineering principles [Design to Value (DtV)]
  • Lead the development and factory introduction of new transformer technologies and features.
  • Generate ideas that contribute to the cost out targets and drive customer value. Idea generation may be performed individually, with the Design to Value team, or as part of cross functional workshop/kaizen events.
  • Develop tools and design concepts which reduce design, manufacturing / assembly time, increase quality, and optimize the use of material.
  • Develop detailed business cases and implementation plans necessary for project approvals.
  • Present business cases to cross functional teams (engineering, marketing, operations/manufacturing, supply chain and quality) to obtain project approval and ensure proper change management is followed.
  • Full ownership of the implementation tasks and actions assigned to cross functional team members.
  • Report project progress and capture business impact throughout the lifespan of the project.
  • High level of collaborate with cross functional teams to define project requirements, and execute projects (Product Management, Supply Chain / Category Management, Local / Global Engineering teams, Operations, Quality, etc).
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in transformer components design and manufacturing, incorporating new methodologies and best practices into our development processes.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Experience designing oil filled distribution transformers; 3+ years.
  • Proven record of project execution to meet business needs (cost savings, increased production rates, new product or feature development/deployment, etc.)
  • Experience creating SQL queries and analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience working with 2D/3D drawing systems.
