Play a critical role on the UnitedHealth Group Corporate Communications team to drive our reputation and inspire employees around our mission to help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone.

This position requires a highly motivated individual who can effectively build relationships and collaborate with a range of stakeholders - and can quickly develop an in-depth understanding of UnitedHealth Group's priorities and vision. Essential qualities for success in this position include a collaborative nature, uncompromising eye for quality and exceptional writing, editing and listening skills. In addition, superior organizational skills, resourcefulness and creative problem-solving are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise editorial strategy across external and internal communications
  • Oversee editorial planning and alignment across UHG, UHC and Optum - serve as a trusted partner and collaborate effectively with colleagues across UHG, Optum and UHC Communications
  • Create and manage editorial calendar across channels to support overarching business and communications goals
  • Manage editorial/content across all channels (Intranet, App, Email, Social Media, , Digital Signage, etc.)
  • Ensure editorial and message consistency across communications channels
  • Lead the strategy and creation of dynamic content to engage key audiences - including new, twice monthly broadcast/newscast and Leader Dose (People Leader email)
  • Partner with Channels team to ensure timely, accurate and high-quality publishing and execution
  • Assess performance data and drive innovations based on data, research, insights and industry best practices
  • Lead and drive innovations and enhancements to employee communications experience and digital platforms - based on research, employee insights and industry best practices
  • Provide ad hoc input and support on core communications strategies across the department

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in:
    • Communications, marketing, public relations, employee engagement or business management
    • Account management and relationship development assessing and interpreting client/partner needs and requirements
    • Presenting to groups and teams
    • Content creation across multiple channels
  • Experience with editorial and communications planning - across multiple audiences and channels
  • Experience in developing content tailored to specific audiences and channels
  • Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint/Word/Excel) experience
  • Proven excellent writing and editing skills with proven track record of executing campaigns and tactics
  • Proven excellent project management skills - from development of strategies through execution
  • Proven to operate with discipline and urgency while managing multiple projects
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Experience managing teams, directly or indirectly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct People Leadership Experience
  • Experience using Opal
  • Experience in building and executing initiatives in a corporate setting (or in consultation with corporations)
  • Knowledge and / or use of Associated Press Stylebook

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $147,300 to $282,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
