Liberty Healthcare is accepting applications for full-time "Competency Trainer" position with our organization's newest forensic mental health program.

This program exclusively serves people who are justice involved and experiencing mental illness.


The goal of this program is to provide rapid mental health services to people in need - so they may achieve improved behavioral health outcomes as quickly as possible.


The program is designed to facilitate early access to services, eliminate barriers to treatment, and restore people to competency as quickly as possible.

Services are provided to clients who are adult inmates at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, CA.

As a Competency Trainer, you will work onsite in the jail and provide face-to-face services to program clients.

You will help educate clients regarding their mental illness, the criminal justice system, and general court proceedings.

Additional responsibilities will include:
Documenting services and client progress
Participating in clinical team meetings and case conferences
Collaborating with clinical, ancillary and security staff
Helping to ensure program clients receive high quality mental health services


This position will require you to work in-person onsite at the jail Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

As a full-time employee of Liberty Healthcare, you can expect:

Starting salary between $60,000 to $67,000 (depending on degree, experience, and other qualifications)

You are a good fit for this position if you have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work (BSW or MSW), Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field.

Experience serving people who have mental illness is required.


Outstanding communication skills are a must, and you should have the ability to establish rapport with people who have mental illness.
