Position Summary
Gill St. Bernard's School is searching for an experienced full time Learning Support Specialist for grades 5-8 for the school year. The Learning Support Specialist will work directly with students to develop skills and improve learning strategies. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, skillful at differentiating instruction, eager to collaborate with colleagues, and enthusiastic about working with middle-school aged children. The successful candidate will be patient, encouraging, and flexible with students, and will model GSB's core values of compassion, excellence, integrity, respect, and courage.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Work with students to help them grow, develop, and achieve their learning objectives.
  • Serve as a member of the Middle School Student Support team.
  • Collaborate with Middle School teachers to gain understanding of curriculum and classroom instruction in order to inform small group/individual lessons.
  • Help manage and direct language-drop student academic program.
  • Participate in divisional, departmental, and grade-level meetings.
  • Perform additional duties (lunch duty, substitute teaching for colleagues, afternoon carline, break duty) as assigned by the Division Director. Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in a related field; dual certification in general and special education
    • 5+ years of experience in teaching, learning support, and/or social work
    • Experience with Singapore Math instruction in grades 5 and 6
    • Demonstrated deep understanding of cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work
    • Experience instructing a diverse student population, including teaching students with different styles and approaches to learning
    • Enthusiasm for and effective use of technology in the classroom
    • Desire for ongoing professional growth and to join a community of learners of all ages
