Project Manager IV

In performing these roles, the Project Manager-IT will be expected to use a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile development approach in the right proportions to fit large, complex, mission-critical, enterprise-level projects, with the appropriate level of planning and balance of agility and predictability.

The Project Manager - IT will be responsible for:

  • At an enterprise level: leading and managing large, complex enterprise-level projects consisting of multiple Agile teams and/or requiring integration with other activities outside the scope of the Agile teams.
  • At a team level: providing a consultative role to help put in place the appropriate people, process, and tools; coaching members of the team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the project team.
  • In situations that require a hybrid Agile approach, using good judgment and skill to develop a project management approach that is suitable for planning and managing the effort to achieve the project goals within designated project constraints.
  • Develop, refine, and continuously monitor progress against an accurate integrated program plan with critical dependencies and measurable milestones that form the basis of functional workstreams and deliverables.
  • Ensure and analyze alignment of project outcomes across customer value, program scope (incl. budget & resources), and strategic business objectives and accordingly, leads the team to recommend specific courses of action.
  • Synthesize complex and disparate information into relevant and easy-to-understand insights for the project team to act upon. Identify key decisions by senior leadership and leads the team to prepare for these discussions by ensuring presentation of balanced and clearly articulated representation of the relevant data, including trade-off decisions.
  • Coordinate project planning and actively manages cross-functional project stakeholders, including making effective use of both formal and informal communication channels - schedule meetings with appropriate attendees; prepare agenda and materials.
  • Managing several concurrent high visibility projects using Agile methods in a fast-paced environment that may cross multiple business divisions.
  • Participating in multiple roles to ensure all stakeholders needs are addressed.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships, providing thought leadership regarding partnerships to leaders across Digital and the Enterprise
  • Track outcomes and manage activities and program performance in accordance with budget and strategic direction

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Management - Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects.
  • Team Management - Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.
  • Product Owner Support - Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Process Management and Improvement - Manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management
  • Team Building - promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage IT Team Performance Metrics; Develop and Manage Team metrics to track progress, see trends, and identify gaps to improve processes and provide metric status to software development and system support senior leadership
  • Manage daily high-level expectations of business partners. Ensure that high profile tasks are being worked to meet business and client expectations. Escalate issues to software development management to ensure resolution.
  • Sprint Status and Coordination; Maintain list of all sprint related projects.
  • Maintain status of each task, escalate tasks that are falling behind for disposition by software development Management and Business representatives.
  • Enterprise Process Management
    • Work & administer project management tools (Jira and Confluence) and CRM tools (Service Desk)
    • Design workflows by meeting with department heads to understand desired process.
    • Implement workflows to ensure tasks adhere to the proper checks and balances to ensure quality of execution.
    • Create custom dashboards to provide task management and execution metrics to departmental managers to provide helpful insight.

Experience/Requirements:

  • At least five years of experience managing a cross-functional programs in Agile.
  • IT Project/Agile/Scrum experience (software development life cycle preferred)
  • Agile and traditional project management principles and practices with the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Experience with Project coordination and planning skills: Ability to drive cross-functional project teams of services personnel dispersed across multiple geographies and disciplines in a Matrix structure where resources may not be a direct report.
  • Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to link strategic objectives to detailed project plans.
  • Adept at searching for program risks and enacting early mitigations or escalating appropriately.
  • Ability to work, communicate and influence successfully across different disciplines and different levels of seniority.
  • Strong communication and organization skills including a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently; must be someone who is self-directed, intellectually curious and takes initiative.
  • Demonstrated business planning skills and track record of defining, developing, and launching successful software products.
  • Customer focus with interpersonal and influencing skills across the organization.

Preferred Skills:

  • BA or BS or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus
  • Implementation of software or web development projects using Agile methodologies
  • Software Development Lifecycle
  • Jira, Confluence experience helpful
  • Experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects preferred.
  • PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent preferred
  • Balanced experience of business/technical background
  • Program or project management certification is a plus
  • Expertise with collaboration (Team, Zoom,etc.) and project management tools
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Travel:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% (in conventional time).
