Primary Responsibilities

Functions in a drawing production engineering technician capacity. Under close supervision, performs basic functions requiring technical knowledge utilizing electronic applications, processes, standards and document control processes/procedures for the purpose of creating or modifying deliverables. Evaluates methods used to accomplish the drafting and/or design activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Role will be responsible for drafting/design HDR Water (drinking water, wastewater, water resources) projects.
  • With occasional assistance from project engineers and managers, produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software.
  • Develop or modify deliverables based on rough sketches, marked-up copies and/or detailed verbal instructions.
  • Develop deliverables with necessary views, sections and details using Company and/or Client standards and procedures with supervision.
  • Learn and understand project and Company standards and procedures.
  • Performs minor computations such as material quantity estimate, dimensional checks, etc, as assigned.
  • May learn new programs or processes required for assignments.
  • Continuously evaluates methods used to accomplish the activities they have been assigned.
  • Ensures that the deliverables are compliant with Company and/or Client Standards, sketches, marked copies and written or verbal instructions.
  • Conduct field investigations and inspections as needed
  • Effectively communicating and corresponding with team members.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3 years related drafting/civil design work experience with BIM programs.
  • Requires good working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, construction documents and technical knowledge
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Civil drafting background with underground utility experience
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience/knowledge in one or more of the following:

  1. Civil 3D and/or Revit
  2. Experience with drafting/design in multiple software programs (school, internship, and/or work)
  3. Facility (structural, piping and mechanical) experience

Preferred Technical Competencies:

  • Intermediate knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other applications or design or modeling skills.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides.
  • Basic industry knowledge and technology trends
  • Basic ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
