What We NeedWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Qualitative Researcher to join our talented R&D team in developing and executing research studies on early stage games. You will closely collaborate with stakeholders across development and publishing in executing research applying a wide assortment of research methods including playtesting, usability testing, focus groups, and more.
What You Will Do- Advocate for our players and provide strategic guidance about their wants, needs, and behaviors
- Conduct qualitative research and analysis to understand player behavior, preferences, and engagement patterns
- Partner with designers and producers on games teams to generate insights and frameworks that will help direct the experience of our new games, as well as systems, and features. You will also establish what good looks like for playtesting and user research in new game development and establish and execute improved processes across R&D
- Collaborate with external vendors to offer additional services
- Develop creative solutions to overcome roadblocks and develop a testing schedule that provides data early enough to make meaningful changes
- 3-5+ years of demonstrated proven track record conducting qualitative user research and/or usability testing
- Experience running playtests and usability tests, including: moderated testing, unmoderated testing, focused feature-specific testing, holistic and longitudinal testing.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including moderation
- Independent thinking that can take the initiative and approaches problem solving with an innovative mindset and focus on scalable solutions
- Comfortable with ambiguity and thinking through multiple perspectives with the ability to stay grounded in the face of change
- R, Q, Python, SPSS, SAS and Tableau experience
- Experience in the video games or tech industry

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $87,000 and $130,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors
