The Amplify team behind the Desmos Math Curriculum and the free Activity Builder is on a mission to help every student learn math and love learning math. Our free tools and activities are used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. Our middle school and Algebra 1 curriculum blends both paper and digital tasks to support social classrooms, invite mathematical creativity, and provoke wonder. Our program is a rigorous core curriculum that empowers teachers and engages middle and high school students.

We are seeking a Desmos Math Coach to support the expansion of schools across the country that adopt the Desmos Math Curriculum and grow the Desmos Coaching team. As a Desmos Math Coach, you will provide world-class implementation support to a portfolio of approximately 140 schools and districts accounts. In managing your own portfolio, you will work closely with other teams across Amplify to advocate for customer needs and manage a variety of projects from proposal to implementation. Desmos Coaches must listen to their customers and understand the complexities of implementing a curriculum through a teacher and district lens. They understand that the hard work of curriculum implementation can be challenging and requires empathy, passion, an open mind, and recognition of the talent in others. Basic Qualifications of the Desmos Coach:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years teaching secondary math, Grade 6 - High School, in two or more education settings including but not limited to rural/urban districts, k-8/ middle/high schools, and charter/public/private schools.
  • Experience supporting schools and districts with a secondary math curriculum adoption from pilot through successful implementation
  • Basic proficiency with Desmos Activities including using Desmos Activities with students and an understanding of the powerful Desmos facilitation tools and dashboard features.
  • 10-30% potential travel to visit with schools and district partners to observe classrooms, understand on-the-ground implementation and gather feedback to improve our curriculum.


Preferred (but not required) Qualifications of a Desmos Coach:
  • 5+ years teaching secondary math, Grade 6 - High School, in two or more education settings including but not limited to rural/urban districts, k-8/ middle/high schools, and charter/public/private schools.
  • 2+ years experience in a coaching or customer success role
  • Leading 2+ presentations at the district level or beyond
  • Experience teaching with or supporting the implementation of Desmos Math Curriculum


What you should show up ready to do on your first day:
  • Collaborate with a variety of folks on multiple teams to ensure a smooth implementation in the post-sales world and provide ongoing support for teachers.
  • Discuss effective strategies to support teachers in their math teaching practice as they implement a new curriculum.
  • Support change management efforts for various schools and districts with other Desmos Coaches.
  • Analyze a variety of data to learn about school/district implementation and hypothesize necessary supports.

Within your first week, you'll:
  • Introduce yourself on Slack to your new coworkers
  • Meet with other Desmos Coaches to begin learning how we support the successful implementation of our curriculum programs.


Within your first month, you'll:
  • Work with other team members to get up to speed on the technologies we use to keep ourselves organized (Google apps, Salesforce, Looker, and Slack).
  • Collaborate with a variety of teams to learn the systems we use to track teacher usage along their implementation journey.
  • Work across the company to learn our team's systems for tracking school/district-level data and communication.
  • Begin building relationships with your portfolio of accounts to start planning for a successful year of implementation.


Within your first three months, you'll:
  • Collaborate deeply, share best practices, and participate in ongoing community building across the coaching team.
  • Begin providing regular and ongoing implementation and instructional coaching support to the schools and districts in your portfolio.
  • Know what account health indicators to look for and how to identify who the key stakeholders and decision-makers are to ensure high-quality implementation across your account portfolio.
  • Plan opportunities across the coaching team to thoughtfully empower main contacts to support them with high-quality implementation of the Desmos Math Curriculum, teacher growth, and increasing student outcomes in their district.


Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $55 - $65.
