POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide direct support and coaching to gifted students and families.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide support and coaching for all identified gifted students and families.
  2. Collaborate and support the counseling department to address affective needs of gifted and talented students
  3. Instructional leader for gifted education and services by supporting current pilot programs
  4. Provide support and communication regarding progress of gifted service implementation
  5. Active member of District GT Coach Team and Enrichment Leadership Team (ELT)
  6. Facilitate district academic challenges - Academic Triathlon, Continental Math, Wordmasters, Knowledge Master Open, Creativity Festival, National Current Events)
  7. Inform staff, students and parents of advanced opportunities
  8. Participate in building transition meetings with students as needed
  9. Plan for and manage transitions for incoming 5th grade and outgoing 8th grade students
  10. Active participation and support of GT coach team
  11. Other duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

Required:

  1. Current Minnesota teaching licensure.
  2. Minimum of five years classroom experience
  3. Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and interest in gifted education
  4. Demonstrated, interest, expertise and innovation in classroom instruction, student services or teacher support.
  5. Willingness to actively partner with District Gifted and Talented Department, GT coach team and the greater gifted education community.
  6. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  7. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email and Microsoft Word.
  8. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  9. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.

  2. Works independently and collaboratively
  3. Demonstrates leadership qualities
  4. Effectively manages own time and the time of others
  5. Demonstrates good problem-solving skills

  7. Proven skills in designing classroom/training curriculum
  8. Proven organization skills
  9. Proven excellent oral and written communication skills
  10. Communicates and values all stakeholders including: parents, community, staff, and students
  11. Advanced interest in technology and instruction
