Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Business Insights will lead teams of data analysts and report writers within L.A. Care's Advanced Analytics Lab (AAL). This position manages the development and deployment of analytic solutions to support data-driven decision-making. This position will manage the analytics strategy of multiple and diverse business domains throughout the health plan, and collaborate with senior leaders to translate functional-area business goals into actionable analytic business cases and delivery roadmaps. As business cases are developed, this position is accountable for creating and enforcing analytic development best practices within its teams that ensure quality, consistency, and agility amongst its analysts.

In order to fulfill the data-driven vision of its customers, the Senior Manager of Business Insights is responsible for influencing and guiding the efforts of technical resource of cross-functional teams. The position will also work in partnership with Information Technology (IT) leadership to ensure that upstream data infrastructure and downstream applications meet business customers' analytic needs.

The Senior Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of running an efficient team, including hiring, supervising, coaching, training, disciplining, and motivating direct reports.

Duties
Lead the engagement with senior leadership across multiple function domains to create analytic business cases that clearly express the business units' analytic support needs, including the perceived value that new analytic solutions will provide.

Lead a team of direct reports that consists of people leaders and individual technical contributors, ensuring fidelity with the team's development processes.

Guide and approve analytic design documentation created by this position's teams, prior to customer review.

Work with AAL's senior management to ensure that the efforts of this position's teams align with the larger AAL strategy and development roadmap.

Continuously grow the technical skills of its data analyst team members.

Create, present, and follow-up on Information Technology (IT) business cases to secure necessary IT support for analytic project execution.

Develop goals, objectives and actions plans for assigned staff that includes full management responsibility for the hiring, performance reviews, salary reviews and disciplinary matters for direct reporting employees.

Conducts strategic planning to utilize resources in order to meet current and future departmental goals.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related FieldEducation Preferred
Master's Degree in Business Administration or Related FieldExperience

Required:

At least 7 years' experience in business analysis using statistical and visualization tools and techniques with the demonstrated experience, skills and/or knowledge on the section below.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading people or supervising/managing a team.

Minimum of 5 year of experience in SQL.

Preferred:

Experience in leading a team of data analyst knowledgeable in SQL and data visualization.

Experience and knowledge of Python and/or R Programming, Tableau.

Experience and knowledge of developing running and presenting rigorous statistical (not just visual) analyses.

Healthcare claims and/or call center experience.
