As a Chemist I, you create chemistry by...
  • Formulating paint based on established guidelines in collaboration with colleagues in the Americas. You will work in a lab to make paint samples, evaluate the samples for performance, and identify the adjustments necessary to match standards per customer specifications.
  • Working in a lab to make and test paint samples to internal and customer specifications, and evaluating formulas for workability and film performance to ensure they meet customer requirements.
  • Supporting Manufacturing and our Field Service teams.
  • Solving customer problems in the areas of appearance, workability, color, and film performance by leveraging your knowledge and background in chemistry.
  • Developing application methods to reproduce customer problems, designing experiments to correct the problem, working with manufacturing to implement changes, reporting root cause and corrective actions, and visiting the customer line to better understand the problem.
  • Working in SAP and other computer systems to establish codes, inspection plans, and make formula changes.
If you...
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or other technical discipline
  • 1-2 years previous laboratory experience
  • Have experience in the coatings industry and general understanding of both Waterborne and Solventborne formulations and their application
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage priorities and multi-task
  • Verbal and written communication abilities
  • LEAN, RCA, Six Sigma, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills (particularly in SAP) will be a values asset as you work in SAP and other computer systems to establish codes, inspection plans, and make formula changes.
