The Winchendon School-New York is a satellite campus of The Winchendon School in Massachusetts. The Winchendon School has a rich tradition of innovation since the school's founder, Lloyd Harvey Hatch, set out to build a school that "adapted to fit the needs and aspirations of each student" almost 100 years ago. The Winchendon School NY, located in midtown Manhattan, has been in existence for 6 years and currently serves over 80 students with plans to grow to 150 students over the next 3-5 years.
Our mission is to facilitate a dynamic learning experience for students who have struggled with engagement in more traditional school settings and thus have yet to grow into their potential. We believe this afflicts a great number of students in North American schools, and that it is both our opportunity and responsibility to create a more dynamic learning environment to inspire and propel a greater number of students toward intellectual and emotional success.
For this position, we are looking for an inspired, engaged, and committed educator who will be pivotal in supporting the growth trajectory of our school. Position description & responsibilities :
Under the direction of the Head of Campus, manages the academic program for The Winchendon School's New York Campus, and works with the faculty to ensure that the academic programming provided to each of our students is appropriate, engaging, and elevating in their scholastic growth
Understands the academic needs and goals of each student and ensures that the faculty is working to meet those needs and goals. Leads the coaching, development, and evaluation of faculty in their classroom teaching capacity. Oversees curricular coordination, development, and alignment. Oversight of Academic Office Function (scheduling, grades, and comments, college counseling, registrar). Implementation of accommodations and modified curriculum in coordination with the Director of college counseling, Dean of Student Support & Director of Hatch Center for Learning Support. Supports the Director of Admissions in enrollment of prospective students and other areas of admissions as needed. Supports the Dean of Students and Community Life coordinator in areas of advising, all school events and co-curricular initiatives, and planning as needed. Ensures that the school curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom practices as executed at the New York campus are aligned with the boarding campus and School overall.
