Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Assistant Commandant for C41T (CG-6), Office of Cybersecurity Program Management (CG-62), located in Washington, DC.



Duties

This position serves as a Senior Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), reporting directly to the Senior Information Security Officer (SISO). You will be identifying, evaluating and implementing new and emerging technologies in information technology security; creating relevant policy; evaluating and optimizes/changes in the existing technical environment including operating procedures and policies; advising on IT security issues to aligning technology-related decisions.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard Team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Developing security design requirements through sound design methodology, adequate security control application, and effective configuration practices.
  • Negotiating for the acceptance of agency positions on key Government-wide policy initiatives and discretion with DoD, DHS, 0MB on national security systems (NSS) and respective classified information.
  • Reviewing proposed new systems, networks and software designs for potential security risks.
  • Implementing higher level security requirements resulting from laws, regulations or Presidential directives.
  • Defining the scope and level of detail for security plans and policies applicable to the security program.
  • Planning, developing and coordinating agency level information assurance or information security programs and strategies.

The duties listed above are written at the highest grade level. If selected at a lower grade level, your responsibilities will increase, and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.
