Position Summary

We are looking for an ambitious and visionary CFO/COO who can lead the operational and financial strategy for Awe Inspired as we scale into a global brand. The ideal candidate has worked for 10+ years in operational and financial leadership at best-in-class D2C brands or consumer-facing startups and has successfully guided organizations to major liquidity events. On the heels of our first venture capital raise, you will own our strategic roadmap and co-lead relations alongside our CEO with our newly formed board.

This role requires deep venture fundraising, strategic planning and board management expertise in the consumer space. Tactically, you'll be responsible for managing all aspects of our finance and accounting processes, business development and sales, and operations (production, fulfillment, technology and website management). Strategically you connect our mission to strategic, operating, and financial plans, aligning the board, executive team, and whole company to our goals. You will report directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a culture of value creation; facilitate rapid growth while maintaining focus on the bottom line;
  • Develop capital structure strategy, identify working capital and growth investment financing needs; partner with CEO on both debt and equity financing efforts;
  • Manage the business development lead and their sales reps to scale revenue streams as we diversify sales channels in owned and 3rd party retail;
  • Manage the Digital lead and their team as we consistently work to improve our conversion rate and customer experience;
  • Oversee the entire end to end product journey from planning through fulfillment, optimizing for margin efficiencies as we near profitability;
  • Directly manage investor and board of directors relationships and general investor communications;
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection model and reporting process that includes a minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs;
  • Lead the creation of quarterly and annual budgets;
  • Manage the recurring FP&A process for financial forecasting and budgeting;
  • Implement and oversee various systems for cross departmental reporting and provide key insights to teams throughout the company, including merchandise planning, operations and marketing;
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-term financial planning for critical business changes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Domain experience in venture-growth stage companies having lead multiple successful capital raises; experience with retail or ecommerce required;
  • 10+ years of increasing financial and operational leadership experience;
  • CPA, CFA, MBA or other relevant qualification is strongly preferred;
  • Experienced relationship builder with a track record of success building long-term, strategic partnerships;
  • Technical fluency around ecommerce website development and operations required. Must be able to oversee the roadmap and management external and internal developers and speak the language of CRO;
  • Deep experience using analysis and ERP system software; expert Excel capabilities;
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles;
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to develop concise summaries of complex analyses and data appropriate for various levels of consumption ranging from board members to team members across the company;
  • Experience overseeing complex projects through completion;
  • Ability to break down open-ended problems into practical solutions;
  • A true self starter; not afraid to test and implement new processes to streamline workflows;
  • Eager to jump aboard a rocket ship.

Benefits

  • Attractive base salary, performance-based bonus, and equity package;
  • Generous vacation and full healthcare benefits;
  • Opportunity to create products that bring meaning and strength to women and minorities and supports those in need through our charity give back program;
  • Trajectory and history of success at a brand that is profitable and operates in a fast-growing, highly-attractive market segment;
  • Collaboration opportunity with enthusiastic founder team;
  • Caring environment that values the societal impacts of its operations as much as financial gain.
