Summary

This position is located in Pinnacles National Park, in the Division of Facility Management, branch of Buildings, Utilities, and Grounds, and reports directly to Chief of Maintenance GS This position supervises routine maintenance and operations of visitor use areas, visitor comfort stations, administrative and public use buildings, campgrounds, water and wastewater systems in the East and West districts of the park. This is a Permanent Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment.



Duties

This position will supervise the day to day work of the permanent, seasonal, and volunteer employees of the Buildings, Utilities, and Grounds Branch. Responsible for the coordination, supervision and planning of work activities as needed by volunteer, youth corps, and partner organizations.

  • Serve as COR on assigned projects.
  • Incumbent directs all field programs and activities to facilitate accomplishment of established park and division goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for technical assistance in preparation of contract documents for the preservation and maintenance of structures and facilities throughout the Pinnacles National Park.
  • Develop annual work plans, schedule maintenance and operational activities for the Buildings, Utilities, and Grounds Branch of Pinnacles National Park Maintenance Division.
  • Provide basic information for budget preparation and monitors expenditures.
  • Make decisions to facilitate program accomplishments, monitors program and ensures that required controls and accountability are maintained.
  • Assist the Facility Manager in determining long and short-range programming for personnel, material, and equipment requirements for all cyclic, routine, and preventive and rehabilitation projects under supervised areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure operational compliance with NPS guidelines, state and federal regulations concerning, NEPA, Section 106, hazardous wastes, material handling and storage, building codes etc., and accomplishments are performed to acceptable safety standards and trade practices.
  • Actively involved in Park Safety Committee, presents tailgate talks, and familiar with the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) within the branch and plans for the mitigation of any safety hazards that are encountered.
