Schurz Communications is looking for an IT Generalist. The IT Generalist will provide end-user support for the organization's applications and infrastructure, including but not limited to Email, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows O/S and associated desktop applications. The IT Generalist will also support computer/network configuration issues including Wi-Fi, Basic Routing & Switching, Antivirus, Anti-Spyware, and Anti-Malware tools. This person will sit at our subsidiary, Antietam Broadband, which is located in Hagerstown, MD. This position is not remote.

Job Type: Full-time

Rate: $25-$30/hr

Location: In office at Hagerstown, MD

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Prioritize and resolve problems as they arise and notify management of potential high impact issues in a timely manner.
  • Build and deploy computers based on Microsoft Windows operating system.
  • End-user hardware and software diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and demonstrate an understanding of customer and business needs.
  • Develop and enhance cooperative relationships with strong interpersonal, customer relations, and communication skills.

The successful IT Generalist will:

  • 1-3 years help desk and basic network/system administration in an enterprise environment.
  • Participate in an after hours on call rotation once every 5 weeks.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Microsoft Certifications a plus
  • Network + a plus
  • Hands-on experience providing support for applications and infrastructure, including but not limited to email, Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Windows O/S and associated desktop applications, as well as computer/network configuration issues including Wi-Fi, Basic Routing & Switching, Antivirus, Anti-Spyware, and Anti-Malware tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality client support and customer satisfaction.
  • Analytical and complex problem-solving skills, with the desire for continuous learning and development.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with a group of IT professionals to support large client base and resolve daily issues that affect the team and overall business objective.
  • Experience using a help desk ticketing system.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and support new applications.
  • Flexible with a "can-do" and "no task too small" attitude.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Basic Office Suite applications Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook Etc.)
