Practice Highlights: Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 325+ provider multispecialty group practice that seeks a certified physician assistant (PA-C) to manage the trauma and acute care surgery (TACS) patients in collaboration with the trauma surgeon(s) including direct management through utilization of approved protocols and procedures as well as appropriate medical consultation. The physician assistant will collaborate with the attending surgeon(s) for clinical management of traumaTACS patients, provide direction to nursing personnel regarding patient management issues and provide daily contact with patients, family members, visitors, employees, medical staff, volunteer and students throughout the continuum of trauma care.

The qualified Trauma TACS PA-C will show evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills and problem-solving abilities and commit to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. Candidates must hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the Idaho Board of Pharmacy and the DEA and should have past surgical and/or critical care experience in a hospital-based setting.

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC) is the principal provider of advanced, innovative and interdisciplinary trauma and critical care services. In addition, SARMC is an ACS verified Level II Trauma Center whose annual trauma volumes exceed 1,2502,000 with over 400 patients with an ISS>16. Trauma is predominantly blunt in nature. The trauma TACS surgeons participate in a primary and back-up call panel arrangement. Moreover, SAMG is in the process of piloting/implementing the Cerner Ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) in clinics and SARMC has an established Cerner PowerChart EHR in the hospital.

Requirements:

  • Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner medical license in Idaho; valid controlled substance registration with Idaho Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
  • strong medical background and a desire to develop a practice to support a growing multi-specialty medical group. In providing this support, you will obtain Idaho medical licensure to maintain and strengthen the Health System's general internal program across all communities we serve.
  • Previous advance practice provider experience in critical care preferred.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS.
