This position is located at the U.S. Forest Service Intermountain Region (Region 4) Regional Office, located in Ogden, UT.

Serves as a Deputy Regional Forester with responsibility for policy formulation, advice, and leadership in responding to complex issues regarding the management of the Region.

Duties
  • Lead or supervise organizations and/or programs responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and/or transferring new, alternative, or experimental work processes.
  • Plan the work to be accomplished by assigning work to employees and establishing production or quality standards for the unit's work.
  • Prepare, justify, and/or administer the program budget for a unit.
  • Foster work group commitment, motivation and/or performance that directly impact internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor expenditures and use cost-benefit techniques to set priorities.
  • Establish and communicate guidelines and performance requirements to employees including conducting formal performance reviews and identifying developmental and training needs of employees.
  • Develop strategies to redirect program activities considering economic, political, social, and/or technological factors to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Introduce newly developed theories and concepts in the planning, implementation, and/or evaluation of multi-year projects or program initiatives.
