Summary

The Health Systems Specialist (Facility Systems Redesign Spec) purpose is to implement a Performance Improvement Program at the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System delivering Performance Improvement techniques to a broad array of programs and services, including Lean Six Sigma, Coaching, Project Management and Training. Additional functions of the position involve advising leadership in the formulation of planning complex facility wide Strategic Plans and facility wide projects.



Duties

The Duties and Responsibilities of the Systems Redesign Specialist include but is not limited to the following:

  • Participates in and facilitates transformative quality, safety, and efficiency improvement efforts
  • Acts as the project lead for healthcare and operational improvement projects impacting patient care delivery systems and functions throughout the medical center
  • Facilitates, coaches, and trains others at all levels of the organization throughout the life cycle of performance improvement projects
  • Conducts extensive work on analyzing data and conducting background research on various issues
  • Pulls, isolates and manipulates data to identify root causes of performance issues, as well as develops statistical models to measure performance improvement actions
  • Defines a project scope and goals through a collaborative process with subject matter experts and leadership throughout the medical center
  • Develops processes by consulting with subject matter experts to develop work standards
  • Conducts experiments and collects data to determine the effectiveness of developed solutions
  • Aligns performance improvement teams and resources, project scopes, valve streams, and strategic and operational plans
  • Identifies projects critical to improving quality outcomes and maximizing return on investments of utilized resources
  • Provides instructions to others on Lean, Six Sigma, System Redesign or other methods of improvement through formal classroom training or small group mentoring
Work Schedule: M-F 0800-4:30pm
