Operating Room RN

The first ambulatory surgery center for St. Francis Hospital and Catholic Health Services of Long Island. Our Surgery Center specializes in same day outpatient surgeries. Our specialties include: Orthopedics, Hand Surgery, Neurosurgery, Joint Replacement, ENT, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Podiatry and Pain Management. Our surgeons are here to meet the needs of both adult and pediatric members of our community. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a OR Registered Nurse - Circulator.

The team at East Hills Surgery Center is seeking a motivated OR Registered Nurse to join us. EHSC is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.

In this role, the successful candidate under the direction of the OR Charge RN, the DON and the Administrator plans the delivery of safe, therapeutic, age specific care. Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to promote wellness and optimizing patient outcomes. Participates in unit/departmental/institutional performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes.

The Registered Nurse in the operating room, provides nursing care and service during surgery cases. The RN will be responsible for positioning the patient, prepping the patient, and circulating the case. Experienced in surgical procedures in the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Spine and General Surgery. Responsibilities:

• Assess patients prior to surgery e.g. NPO status) and alleviate their concerns
• Gather all supplies needed for the operation
• Assume responsibility of keeping the operating room sterilized
• Position and prepare patient on operating table
• Pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operation
• Monitor patient's vital signs to detect anomalies
• Evaluate patient in postoperative phases
• Adhere to safety standards and precautions
• Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned

Requirements:

• Proven experience as operating room nurse (circulating and scrub)
• Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
• Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
• In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
• Outstanding organizational ability
• A great team player with excellent communication skills
• Cool tempered with emotional and physical stamina
• Diploma in nursing and a valid license

Sign-on Bonus: $2,500.00
