Hitachi Energy is seeking a Tender Manager for its Raleigh, NC location. Hiring manager is prioritizing skills and experience over physical work location and will consider remote work. In this independent contributor role, you will be responsible to drive and motivate indirect reports during the tender preparation.

This pivotal role will support the sales organization and customers throughout the proposal process by preparing technical descriptions of the applied systems and technology and preparing the commercial offer, determining costs, preparing final documentation, and serving as a key technical resource in the assigned area.

Assure full compliance with process and quality in tender preparation, focus on customer needs and requirements as well the internal requirements in tender & project management process, approvals workflow and risk analysis by support through shared resources inside the organization (Grid & Power Quality Solutions).

Your responsibilities

  • Internal Coordination: Coordinate with Internal Stake holders (Engineering, Project Management, Field Operations, Supply Chain) locally and internationally.
  • Sales support: Supports the local Sales organization/customers in determining the most technically appropriate and costeffective solutions and in the preparation of demanding offers. Provides technical support during the technical meeting, solution presentations and negotiations and offers product/system/servicerelated training.
  • Offer preparation: Prepares/supports preparation of technical/commercial offers based on customer specification requirements, Local Business Unit/feeder factory indications and Sales organization directives. Prepare and present the tender kick off meeting to guide the project team.
  • Cost definition: Defines cost for the proposed solution and communicates to Sales organization.
  • Risk review: Provides information to the risk review process in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy and lead the risk review assessment.
  • Competitive analysis: Analyzes customer needs and competitor offers through general market information and information provided by the Sales organization.
  • Win/Lost analysis: Performs win/lost proposal analysis, identifies potential cause, and recommends future actions in cooperation with Sales/Local Business Unit to obtain better future results or keep the good practices.
Your background

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in sales support specialist or tender / bidding position.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in HV Substations OR Power Quality Solutions (FACTS solution like STATCOM, SVC, Synchronous Condensers, etc.). Highly prefer in an international environment.
  • Process orientated, disciplined, structured, and high committed to the results.
  • Able to engage people in different cultures.
  • Proactive in establishing effective relationships and engaging with various team members.
  • Oriented to a leadership role since will lead multi discipline team to interface with all internal company areas and external partners.
  • Fully adept in Microsoft Office. Strong analytical understanding and advanced skills in Excel.
  • Experience in estimating, negotiations, and development of technical proposals.
  • Experience and Ability to understand the project construction sequence and timelines.
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken.
  • Ability to travel 1015%.
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering focus in Electrical market.
  • Experience delivering turnkey / EPC substation projects is an advantage.
  • EPC / Contractor / Construction experiences highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear, High Voltage Air Insulated Equipment and High Voltage Power Transformers, and how to integrate the equipment into HV Transmission/distribution system.
  • Understanding of contract law, construction permitting and Insurance.
  • Broad knowledge of diverse operations and ability to independently resolve complex problems is a plus.
  • Fluent in Spanish or French both written and spoken is a plus.
