Cushing's Visual Arts Program is nationally recognized and supports a wide range of students, from budding artists to those who intend to pursue art in college and beyond.
The Emily Fisher Landau Center for the Visual Arts houses dedicated studio space for:pottery and sculpture, digital and traditional photography, painting and drawing, and glass; candidates should have the background to work with multiple mediums.
More general responsibilities include teaching five sections of high school art, leading an afternoon activity/workshop for three 'seasons,' and serving as an advisor to a small group of students.
Residential life duties are required, and housing is provided.
Successful candidates will have an exceptional ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with a diverse range of adolescents.
Candidates should demonstrate an ongoing commitment to creating and supporting an inclusive educational environment and a willingness to examine their own educational practices through an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a related field (master's preferred) and at least 3-5 years of experience teaching at the high school level.
