This is an exciting time to join our community in Katy, Texas located just outside the Houston metro area. We have a state of the art facility, that is one of the world's pedagogically advanced campuses. The National Curriculum for England, IGCSE and IB Diploma are taught from the Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 13 (Academy Year). The Performing Arts Department at the British International School of Houston includes specialist teachers in Dance, Music and Drama. In addition to this, there is an extensive private instrumental programme involving a number of peripatetic teachers. This is a whole school department, providing Performing Arts learning for students aged 3 to 18 years old. This role seeks an experienced Drama teacher with experience of teaching students across all school. Experience of teaching the IGCSE Drama and IB Theatre Studies curricular (or equivalent) would be desirable.

Creates a culture of learning and manages student behaviour to ensure an environment of respect and collaboration. Participates in all aspects of our learning programme, in line with school policy that assists in growing the school and are linked to the agreed learning programme Planning and PreparationSets clear learning intentions and educational outcomes. Designs lesson plans, activities and assessments aligned to the school's curriculum and engage students. Conceptualises, plans and teaches well-structured lessons and programmes that engage, inspire and stretch students; encouraging them to be ambitious EventsLead/contribute towards school wide events throughout the year, including; Junior and Senior productions, concerts, Performing Arts ShowcasesQualifications and RequirementsBachelor's Degree Teaching Qualification (PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status)Minimum 2 years teaching experience Experience of Teaching IGCSE Drama and IB Theatre Studies is desirableFamiliarity with the Julliard Drama curriculum, advantageous but not required as training will be providedGood cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures Excellent analytical skills - with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
