Kimball Union Academy (KUA) seeks an experienced, student-centered girls' varsity soccer coach who will also teach or work within another non-academic department to join our community as a full-time faculty member who will actively support and fulfill KUA's mission "to create a deep sense of belonging for every member of our community. Through intentionally designed experiences and challenges, our students develop the knowledge, voice, and character to live with purpose and integrity."

ABOUT THE POSITION

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coach, recruit, and develop our girls' varsity soccer team.
  • Teach an academic subject or work as a member of our Student Life Office, or Athletics Department.
  • Coach one additional season of sports.
  • Teach a curriculum and work in collaboration with a community that embraces diversity, provides equity, and ensures inclusion and belonging for all.
  • Open to learning and utilizing the principles of KUA Design within the classroom, coaching, advising and within the residential program.
  • Advise a small cohort of students.
  • Serve as a dorm parent in our residential program and work within a team to supervise and facilitate weekend activities on occasional weekends.
  • Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective instructional practices.
  • Pursue continuous growth and development in understanding and implementation of diverse and effective coaching and recruiting practices.
  • Contribute knowledge, expertise, and passion to the on-going collaborative effort to innovate and improve KUA's curriculum and participate in committee work as requested by school leadership. QUALIFICATIONS
    • 1-5 years of coaching soccer at the high school or college level.
    • A bachelor's degree in an academic subject, education, or a closely related field.
    • 1-5 years (or more) of experience coaching, teaching, or working with high school aged students.
    • Current pedagogical practices which may include experience with Universal Design for Learning, backwards planning (Understanding by Design), and project-based learning.
    • Collaborative approach, willing to work closely with colleagues both in and outside of the department.
    • Facility with educational LMS portals, Mac OS, Mircrosoft365, Google apps, and other education-enhancing products.
    • Flexible, resilient, and creative working within a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues.
    • Strong analytical skills and an ability to learn new systems quickly.
    • Student-centered educator with a commitment to investing in the lives of young people.
