Responsibilities

  • Teach a class of students including all elements of instructional planning, implementation, and assessment
  • Encourage independence, decision-making, and problem-solving
  • Engage in positive discipline, setting clear expectations and appropriate consequences that support the development of the whole child
  • Observe, record, and document the growth and development of children through the established evaluation tool, anecdotal observations, and portfolio development
  • Collaborate and maintain open communication with a co-teacher and appropriate staff members regarding issues that pertain to the well-being of children and families
  • Complete report cards and other forms of academic communication in a timely, professional manner
  • Pursue opportunities for professional growth on an annual basis
  • Attend regular staff meetings and professional development workshops
  • Perform other duties as assigned Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
    • At least three years of teaching experience
    • A passion for working with children
    • A deep commitment to the School's mission
    • Demonstrates inclusive and equitable practices to ensure that all members of the community feel a sense of belonging
    • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with children and their families
    • Follows community policies and procedures and models positive behavior
    • Works effectively as a team member and develops professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues

    • Technologically literate and able to guide and direct students' use of technology
    • The ability to speak Spanish is optional but preferred
