About the Position:
Incumbent will plan and lays out work, set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, shapers, planers, and grinders. Uses a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as taper attachments, chucks, vise, thread adapter, etc. Lays out work from technical manuals, blueprints, drawings, and sketches.



Duties
  • Performs precision handwork to finish, fit, and assemble machined parts.
  • Provides operators with any needed instruction and periodically check production pieces, making required adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Set up and operates numerical/controlled (N/C) and/or conventional machine tools.
  • Manufacture parts and complete items of equipment from raw stock (e.g., rough castings, bar stock) of different kinds of metal.
  • Receives work assignments in the form of work orders or oral instruction accompanied by blueprints, sketches, drawings, model of the part of other work specifications.
  • Operates machine tools to cut, drill, bore, tap, ream, shape, turn, mill, crind, hone and lap items.
