The University of Miami School of Law, Office of Career & Professional Development, has a great opportunity for a Senior Program Coordinator to work at the Coral Gables Campus.


Job Summary

The Senior Program Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Office of Career and Professional Development's (OCPD) recruiting programs and events. This includes serving as the day-to-day point of contact for employers who recruit Miami Law's students and alumni. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Program Coordinator works closely with the entire OCPD team to ensure the seamless delivery of employment opportunities for Miami Law students and graduates.

Department Specific Responsibilities

Employer Engagement and Recruiting Programs

  • Assist in developing and executing a comprehensive employer engagement strategic plan to promote Miami Law students and recent graduates in the job market.
  • Develop and cultivate strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders (faculty, staff, alumni, private and public sector employers, and bar associations) to develop and expand employment opportunities for law students and recent graduates.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Early, Fall, and Spring Interview Programs, from registration to post-completion. Oversee creation of interview schedules in career services management system and create application material packets for employers. This includes troubleshooting time-sensitive issues, including following up with students as necessary and identifying alternate interviewees.
  • Communicate effectively with employers as to status of job searches, potential student applicants, and employer needs throughout process.
  • Create systems to effectively track, manage, and report engagement with employers and job opportunities.
  • Collect, maintain, and create reports on employment trends and outcomes, including data relating to student interview outcomes and market salary data.
  • Coordinate in-person and virtual employer visits, including student outreach, location identification, and set up.
  • Develop and assist in managing social media for the OCPD; routinely update employer and other professional contacts.
  • Build and maintain strategic and collaborative working relationships with other Law School and University departments, including the Office of Law Alumni and Community Relations and Toppel Career Center.
  • Represent the OCPD and Law School at various internal and external functions to gain exposure in the Miami community and/or to represent the University employer/student functions.

Student Interface

  • Coordinate communication of employment opportunities, review student submissions, and submit application materials to employers in a timely fashion.
  • Serve as liaison between employers and students, assisting in identifying "right fit" opportunities for students and employers, and functioning as connector between students, employers, and alumni.
  • Analyze submitted student resumes for compliance with OCPD guidelines, communicate with students as to compliance issues, and coordinate directing students to resources to assure compliance.
  • Follow up with students on application status with employers for specific job postings.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and executing OCPD programs, events, fairs, and other initiatives designed to market students to employers.

General Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the OCPD front desk and busy lobby, including directing the flow of traffic in the office and welcoming visitors.
  • Assist with managing the OCPD email account as needed.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Assist in assessing the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that operations are managed within authorized budgets.
  • Model the University's DIRECCT values.

Department Specific Qualifications

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Three (3) plus years corporate recruiting or career development experience preferred. A combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

  • Superior written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong executive functioning skills, including attention to detail and the ability to assess, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain equanimity while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to proactively identify projects, tactics and/or strategies to enhance the OCPD's recruiting programs.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Proficiency with the following is required:

    • Online employment search engines and management systems
