Summary

  • The Perioperative Scheduler provides scheduling for all of the Operating Rooms cases and their special needs for external services including equipment.
  • Provides scheduling services to Endoscopy Suites, Cardiovascular Services including the Cath lab and Interventional Radiology Women Services/OB.
  • Schedules procedures for the Anesthesia department and for the Outpatient services rendered in the Ambulatory Services area(s).

Responsibilities

  • Follows hospital and departments policies for confidentiality when faxing patient information.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times as it relates to computer access.
  • Recognizes potential scheduling conflicts.
  • Notifies manager or unit leader of all information that effects the schedule.
  • Communicates changes to physicians offices and admitting department as needed.
  • Schedules surgical procedures accurately including all necessary information.
  • Company vendors, notification to materials manager or designee.
  • Maintain proper phone etiquette by identifying department and self.
  • Offers immediate assistance to customers and ensures that their needs are met.
  • Effectively work with co- workers and management contributing to overall team success, maintains positive work relation.
  • Reports equipment failure immediately to appropriate department.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.

Education

  • High school diploma is required.

Skill

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

  • Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
