JOB DESCRIPTION:
Oakland University, established in 1957, is located in Rochester, Michigan. An NCAA Division 1 school, OU is in the Horizon League. With an enrollment of over 20,000 students, Oakland University Golden Grizzlies fields 16 teams: baseball, m/w basketball, m/w cross country, m/w golf, m/w soccer, softball, m/w swimming and diving, women's tennis, m/w track and women's volleyball.
The athletic trainer will complete approximately 1720 hours of athletic training services at OU; however, additional hours outside of the school may include physician clinic assistance and other duties as assigned. Sport assignment will include softball and cross country. The AT will effectively communicate with the other athletic trainers at Oakland University, while providing coverage to one or more teams at OU, as determined by the University.
Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive health care programs for athletes and other patients. Under the direction of, on the prescription of or in collaboration with a physician, the practice of athletic training includes the treatment of an individual for risk management injury prevention, clinical evaluation and assessment, immediate care and treatment, and rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury or illness, or both. The Athletic Trainer is placed in various sites for provision of services including, but not limited to, high school/college/university, outreach programming, community events and engagements, and HFHS sites.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent required.
- Post-certification master's degree in athletic training or related field preferred.
- At least two years of related and expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or a combination of education and experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize delivery of services as needed.
- Adheres to community outreach or school policies, including but not limited to NCAA, NJCAA, and MHSAA while meeting expectations of community outreach programming. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Board of Certification, Inc. certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) required.
- Licensed as an Athletic Trainer (AT) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs required or obtained prior to date of hire.
- Additional certifications and credentials obtained in health care (i.e. CSCS, PES, FMS, CKTP, EMT) preferred.
