Description

Fay School seeks a dynamic, flexible, and creative individual who loves teaching music and understands how to engage elementary and middle school students. The Music Teacher helps students develop choral skills, teaches handbells to students in grades seven through nine, and assists in the production of the spring musical. Outside the classroom, they are an advisor to a small group of students, coach or assist in afternoon programs, and participate in the residential life program. This is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits. Campus housing may be available .

Qualifications

Candidates should have at least two years of teaching experience, preferably in an elementary or middle school. Knowledge of Kodaly and keyboard experience are essential. A bachelor's degree in music, music education, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred. Working musicians with teaching experience, as well as their own performance pursuits, are encouraged to apply. Teacher certification is not required. Responsibilities include:

Preparing and presenting materials and lessons to students in grades five through nine Assessing students' performance and issuing academic grades, effort grades, and comments Integrating academic technology to enhance instruction as appropriateCommunicating effectively with parents Attending team and department meetings and major school events, as required Attending faculty and departmental meetings Assisting in the production of the spring musical Coaching or assisting in afternoon programs Performing duties to support the School's residential life program Fay School values teachers who believe in differentiated and developmentally-aligned approaches to teaching and learning, integrate instructional technology, understand the importance of cultural competence, and are attuned to the social and emotional growth of young students.
