Job Description:

Saddleback College is currently seeking Part-Time Spanish language instructors.

Part-time/temporary faculty positions provide an opportunity to support a diverse group of students in reaching their educational objectives. As one of the biggest community college districts in southern California, we offer a broad range of possibilities in transfer, general education, career, and technical education programs.

These part-time positions are offered on an as-needed basis, and candidates should reside within commuting distance to Orange County.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Teach classes following established curriculum and course outlines.
- Prepare and deliver course outlines, materials, and lectures that align with learning objectives in the course syllabus.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of learning outcomes as specified by the department.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain grade records.
- Utilize assessment data on student learning outcomes for teaching and learning enhancements.
- Uphold professional conduct and ethics standards.
- Stay updated on subject matter areas.
- Adhere to college and district regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Meet all program/college/district reporting deadlines promptly.
- Incorporate current technology and learning materials to support teaching.
- Establish and maintain regular contact with students in distance education courses.
- Conduct classes as per schedule and location.
- Fulfill workload responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Potentially engage in curriculum review and program development.
- Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and/or off-campus classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

For this role, candidates must possess at least one of the following:
(a) Master's degree or higher in Spanish from an accredited college or university;
(b) Bachelor's degree in Spanish from an accredited college or university AND a Master's degree in another language or linguistics;
(c) Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject as per Education Code issued before July 1, 1990; OR
(d) A combination of education and experience equivalent to (a) or (b) above. For those applying on the basis of equivalency, a Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination must be submitted along with other required materials.

Additional Information:

  • Experience in College level teaching, including online teaching and familiarity with Learning Management Systems like Canvas, is beneficial.
  • Assignments can be fully online or in person.
