POSITION DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to provide recreational and leisure activities for individuals with developmental disabilities that reside at MDH - Holly Center. This position will occasionally be responsible for overseeing the resident's safety when participating in the aquatics program.\r

Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:� Three years of experience assisting in the implementation of prescribed activity therapy programs under the supervision of a healthcare professional to include assisting in patient/client assessments for mentally ill, aged, physically ill or physically disabled patients or developmentally disabled clients.\r

1.� Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, with at least 15 credit hours in health services, human services, education or the behavioral sciences for two years of the required experience. ��\r

\r
2.� Candidates may substitute possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy or therapeutic recreation for the required experience.�\r
\r
\r
3.� Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Therapeutic Recreation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r
2. Employees in some positions in this classification may be required to operate vehicles which require a Class 'C' motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r
3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training. \r
4. Employees in this classification at facilities with a swimming pool may be required to obtain Red Cross instruction and certification in Life Saving and Water Safety prior to permanent appointment. \r
