Summary

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) involved in the installing, troubleshooting, interrogating, programing/reprograming, adjusting, testing, modifying, calibrating, and repairing of complex integrated aircraft electrical and environmental systems and equipment on board conventional/nuclear certified aircraft supported by the organization and to provide training to and evaluation of all assigned personnel, e.g., Active Duty, Reservist, Civilians, Contractors and foreign military as required in the accomplishment of duties set forth herein.

Duties include:

  1. Performs troubleshooting of complex integrated electrical/environmental systems of related on/off equipment for assigned and/or transient aircraft to include support equipment.
  2. Installs, inspects, modifies, repairs, services, replaces, adjusts and overhauls complex integrated electrical/ environmental systems, both on and off equipment, to include, but not limited to: oxygen, fire suppression, air conditioning, pressurization, ice/rain protection, bleed air systems, avionics cooling systems, cargo/mission handling, missile interface units/bomb doors, anti-skid systems, landing gear, ignition, stall warning, flight control, AC/DC power supply and distribution, Integrated Drive Generator, fuel and explosive systems.
  3. Performs final functional and operational tests of complex integrated electrical/ environmental systems, both on and off equipment. Prepares/executes effective training plans to maximize training for all assigned personnel, e.g., Active Duty, Reservist, Civilians, Contractors and foreign military.
  4. Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work area.
  5. Documents/recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting malfunctions, initiating product quality deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.
