About the Job

This job opportunity is for the position of Senior Electronics Technician, focusing on equipment repair, maintenance, and calibration. Note: This role does NOT involve responsibilities related to computer science or information technology (IT). The Senior Electronics Technician we are looking for will lead in ensuring the seamless functionality of laboratory and research equipment. From planning and scheduling repair and maintenance tasks to recommending new test equipment, this position requires extensive expertise in handling a diverse range of laboratory instruments.

Salary Range: $53,040.00 to $70,000.00 per year. Salary varies based on experience.

The senior technician will be responsible for repair, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory and research equipment, including planning and scheduling these tasks. They will also recommend new test equipment needed presently and in future equipment services and calibrations.

  • Repair of equipment (35%): Repair various types of equipment such as shakers, balances, pipettes, Co2 incubators, centrifuges, etc. Make recommendations on upgrades and modifications, and provide technical assistance when required.
  • Calibration and Preventive Maintenance of Equipment (50%): Conduct calibration of equipment like shakers, balances, pipettes, Co2 incubators, centrifuges, etc.
  • Documentation (10%): Respond to service inquiries, prepare price quotes, enter service calls into databases, and assist in developing standard operating procedures.
  • Customer Interface (5%): Promote shop services to laboratories across all campuses and help in developing new services to meet future needs.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: High school graduation plus at least two years of trade school education or other electronics training with at least one year of recent experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Proficient experience in servicing 2 to 3 of the listed equipment: Pipettes, centrifuges, Co2 incubators, shaking incubators, PCR machines, balances.
