Math/science teacher in Academic Support Program

The Storm King School, a grade 8-12, co-education, college preparatory boarding school located in the spectacular Hudson Highlands, overlooking the Hudson River, has an opening for a math-science teacher in our Academic Support Program (ASP) for the school year starting on August 18, 2024.

Our ASP program supports college bound students with mild learning differences. In addition to a 'base course' all ASP students may enroll in from one to four classes in specific disciplines: English, history, math, science.

Primary Job Responsibilities: Teach at least four sections, coach two seasons, and support our residential life program. Teaching will be focused on math and science class in our Academic Support Program, but may include teaching in a non-ASP science or math class or a base class in ASP. Some other duties include:

1. supervise weekend and after school assignments and clubs when needed.
2. attend parent/teacher meetings.
3. attend faculty/staff meetings, dorm meetings and others as required.
4. Drive groups of students as need for athletics, weekend or other activities (A New York State License is required; it can be acquired shortly after being hired. Salary and Benefits: The salary range is between $40K and $62.5K depending on experience. A full range of benefits are included with the position. Housing on campus may or may not be available.    Minimum qualifications:

   Bachelor's degree is required, MA preferred. A degree and/or certification and experience in special ed. Or a related credential is needed. Candidates with 2-5 years of experience are preferred.
