The material planner will manage inventories for Alstom projects and 3rd party sales if applicable to support sales activities. Some planning may be required for production/refurbishment departments. Work closely with Warehouse Managers/Supervisors, Purchasing and Sourcing to plan and implement Min – Max levels as required by the project. Provide resolution and execution to key shortage issues. Management of Slow, Excess and Obsolete materials reduction project. Assist Manager with off site projects relating to Inventory, cycle counting, warehouse capacity set-up and other various reports or special projects.

To manage the projects or 3rd party sales inventory to insure "no stock out" occurs for the customer and to minimize inventory including excess and slow moving stock.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Plan and manage inventory to achieve the projects or company targets. Execute Service Supply Chain business goals with supporting metrics, such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy and material line accuracy. Plan and manage inventory for production departments. Complete parts planning analysis and manage inventory for multiple site locations & 3rd party subcontract suppliers providing repair services. Interact with Customer Service, Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse, Operations, Engineering to accomplish scheduling of inventories to support projects, production and 3rd party sales. Interact with forecast or demand planning to ensure inventory planning is based on the most current and accurate forecast. Forecast demand for refurbished parts and components needed to support production and field service requirements. Provide resolution and execution to key shortage issues. Ability to prepare and analyze the short and long-range capacity plans. Manage the Inventory reduction project for slow, excess and obsolete materials. Provide end of life product analysis and forecasts utilizing historical analysis, trend data and product failure rates to establish future component demand requirements. Perform SAP material part maintenance to ensure MRP integrity. Supports other departments (i.e. Customer Service, Operations, Materials, Engineering, Safety, Purchasing, etc.) Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Support off-site requirements relating to ALSTOM Transport. Other special projects assigned by Manager.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED

SAP, Microsoft Office, excel, word Must have Personal computer skills Word /Excel. (2+) Experienced in SAP software activities. Good Phone skills. Good written/verbal communication and math skills. Must manage multiple tasks simultaneously

KNOWLEDGE SPECIFICATIONS:

A thorough knowledge of managing inventory, service levels & supply performance. A thorough knowledge of current Acela program support processes & related SAP functions. Productivity and results focused with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Excellent time management and follow through with attention to detail. Quality oriented with a focus on exceeding customer expectations. Knowledge and utilization of root cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions. Ability to identify, establish and drive continuous improvements. Organization/scheduling, planning analyzing skills Domestic and International shipment requirements with Government Agencies and our Company policies. Problem solving skills Good written/verbal communication skills Confidentiality, reasoning, language, multi-tasking, scheduling, follow-through, decision-making. A flexible and professional manner.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS: Traveling to various sites, working in various conditions. Office sitting, walking, standing, filing and lifting materials under 50 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Can come in contact with truck exhaust fumes. Temperature changes when dock doors are open, exposure can last 20 minutes or longer, several times per day.
