Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Area Acoustics Section Manager, we'll count on you to:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Acoustics team, monitor workload, provide ongoing coaching/training, and support marketing efforts.
- Coordinate with the local area, regional leadership, and HDR's Acoustics program to drive business growth and support key initiatives.
- Typical tasks include architectural acoustics, mobile source acoustics, environmental noise and vibration related analyses.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships within the local team, technical partners, clients, and stakeholders.
- Serve as a seller-doer with the responsibility to pursue and win work but also maintain a profitable utilization goal for your team and yourself.
- Ensure compliance with HDR policies, procedures, quality assurance, and risk management.
- Prepare and manage scopes of work, budgets, and schedules required for communication efforts, including managing subcontractors.
- Seek out and participate in industry and community activities as a representative of HDR.
- Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Math, Physics or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years management experience
- Professional registration or license
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- Familiar with relevant ISO and related acoustical standards
- Familiarity of local clients and markets
- Familiar with current guidance documents for acoustical analyses (FHWA, FTA, FRA, USIBC, etc)
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
